Behind the Camera Again

A lot of you know that I have been without a good camera for a long time. Some of you also know that I finally got a new Canon 70D for my last birthday.  Not having a camera these past 5 years has been like losing an appendage. My iPhone has sufficed for social media posts, but when you live for the perfect shot a mobile device just isn’t good enough.

I hope it’s like riding a bicycle, because I am trying to relearn my digital photography skills (after years of shooting film). I am spending more of my shooting time testing out settings. The subjects are pretty typical, I know. But there’s nothing like twilight over water to motivate a landscape & nature photographer. Here are some photos from yesterday when I was wandering the shores of Alki Beach in West Seattle.  Cheers! ~ Kat

Decisions. Making them is hard to do.

I don’t know if it’s because I’m a Libra or something else, but I have always had a hard time making swift decisions. I want all of the information before I finally decide on an option. I want to know as much as I can know and then I weigh all of the factors very carefully. But eventually, I do make a decision – and I know it’s mine alone to make, no matter who else or what else may be influencing me. I know I have to live with the decisions I make.

I’m back! And it feels good.

Every fall I fast for 5 days. I renew my commitment to healthy living and establishing balance in my life (no matter how off-track I got over the summer). I review where I’ve been and make a plan for where I’m going. It’s a road map that I am constantly adapting and changing.
